Airlock Rebuilding

Even the best equipment needs servicing or readjustment due to normal wear.  Boedecker Company can rebuild or recondition any make or model of airlock to its original specifications.   If the design parameters of the application have changed, we make the correct changes to the airlock for proper operation.

  • Rebuild most popular brands.

  • 304 and 316 stainless steel.

  • Cast iron and carbon steel.

  • Fast service.

  • Reliable repair.

  • Cost effective.

  • Free estimates no obligation.

  • Work done to suggested specifications, based on your application.

Normal Rebuilding Includes:

  • Housing bored on the I.D. to remove wear and damage.

  • Rotor seal and bearing surfaces are built up and machined to original tolerances.

  • Rotor tips are built up, and machined for proper clearance.

  • The land width and bevel are machined on tips and sides of rotor.

  • Endplates are machined to remove wear and damage and to maintain proper clearance.

  • Bearings and seals replaced.

  • Valve is assembled, test run, and final measurements recorded.

Rotor speed calculation

Mass/minute ÷ Bulk Density = Volume/minute (actual)

Volume/minute (actual) ÷ .70 (example of 70% filling efficiency) = Volume/minute (corrected)

Volume/minute (corrected) ÷ Valve Swept Volume = Rotor rpm

Rotor filling efficiency depends on many factors, such as:

Material Flowability

  • Better flowability = greater efficiency

  • Granules and pellets = 75-90% efficiency

  • Fine powders = 60-85% efficiency

Rotor RPM

  • Lower speed = greater efficiency

  • 15 rpm and slower = 75% efficiency or better

  • 16 rpm and faster = 80% efficiency or less

Application

  • Low pressure change = greater efficiency

  • Bin activator = 75% efficiency or better

  • Dust collector or cyclone = 50% efficiency or less
